Following the successful “Valletta 2018 International Tour” (November-December 2018), the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) will continue their legacy with Maestro Joseph Vella by performing his Concerto for Piccolo, Strings and Timpani (Opus 114).

This 21 minute long work was written in 2008 and first performed in 2012 by the same MPO, with Maestro Vella himself as conductor. The orchestra’s own piccolo player Fiorella Camilleri will be the soloist, on this occasion.

The concert, under the direction of Miran Vaupotić, will be held on Saturday 2nd February 2019 at the Teatru Manoel, Valletta. It will also feature works by Bernstein and Brown, besides a newly commissioned work by Christopher Muscat, who himself collaborated closely with Maestro Vella.
