A symposium – organised by Festivals Malta – focusing on Maestro Joseph Vella`s career as Composer, Conductor and Academic will be held on Wednesday 25th November 2020 at the Cathedral Museum, Mdina (10.30am).

Following an introduction by Mro. Vella`s son Alan on behalf of the Family, three leading Maltese Maestros will elaborate on Vella`s musical personality. Mro. Chris Muscat will look into Vella’s composition and diversity of style; Mro. Josef Debrincat will elaborate on the upcoming oratorio “Ir-Rewwixta” by Joseph Vella and Oliver Friggieri; whilst Mro. Colin Attard will give insights on Vella`s career from Gozo to Malta and beyond.

This symposium will launch the three year collaboration between the Vella Family and Festivals Malta, to include a premier of Mro Vella`s opera ‘Valeriana’, and performances of the two oratorios ‘Rewwixta‘ and ‘Il-Belt Rebbieħa‘ composed by Mro Vella to words by Professor Oliver Friggieri, who sadly passed away earlier on this week.
