Mro. Vella`s ‘English Mass’ to be Performed in Belgium

One of Malta’s leading choirs, the St Paul Choral Society, is embarking on its Belgium Tour 2025 with different concerts scheduled in the main Belgian historic cities of Bruges, Antwerp, Ghent, and Brussels.

On Sunday 31st August, the choir will be singing Mro Joseph Vella`s ‘English Mass’ during the High Mass at the Ghent Cathedral, Belgium.

The ‘English Mass’ – Opus 46 – is a nearly 10 minute work for SATB and Organ that was composed in December 1986. It was first performed by another Maltese Choir – the Amadeus Chamber Choir – in the Adenau Cathedral, Germany.

Founded in 1998, the St Paul Choral Society has performed in over 300 venues and its repertoire spans from the 16th century to the present day. Since its inception, it has been under the musical direction of Dr Hugo Agius Muscat.
