Maltese Music in Paris

Gozo-based Gaulitanus Choir will be including two of Maestro Joseph Vella`s works in their upcoming “Musique Maltaise à Paris” concert on the 6th November 2019, at the Sainte Marie-Madeleine Church, Paris, France.

Sopranos Stephanie Portelli and Annabelle Zammit will sing “Il-Kebbies Tal-Fanali” (Opus 18) and “Taħnina” (Opus 106) respectively.

“Il-Kebbies Tal-Fanali”, composed in 1973 to words by Anton Buttigieg, thereafter appointed President of Malta (from 1976 to 1981), is one of Maestro Joseph Vella`s best known works, and has been performed widely across the world by several well- known artists. ‘Taħnina’ is on the other hand a short work for soprano solo and piano (cello optional), based on a traditional Maltese lullaby. Maestro Joseph Vella dedicated this work to his two grandchildren, Cristina and Andrea.

Gaulitanus Choir is directed by Maestro Vella`s nephew, Maestro Colin Attard.
