Works by contemporary composers form the backbone of this year`s “Cluster Music Festival”, an established cultural festival held in the Italian city of Lucca, in Tuscany. The festival’s 2018 edition runs from September 29th to November 17th.

A commemorative concert dedicated among others to Maestro Joseph Vella was held on Sunday 21st October at the Museo del Duomo. The Festival`s Executive Council, that includes composer Maestro Girolamo Deraco with whom Vella collaborated regularly, decided to feature Vella`s “6 Preludes” (Opus 70) prominently as part of the programme. This work, for pianoforte solo, was premiered in Palermo – Italy, in 1995, and is nearly 15 minutes long.
