Congratulations to Jessica Ellul

Jessica Ellul made her debut with the Malta Youth Orchestra in 2012 performing Weber’s Clarinet Concert No. 1, under the baton of Maestro Joseph Vella, whom she acknowledges as Malta`s leading composer in contemporary music.

Ever since, Jessica has never looked back. Her latest milestone as a professional clarinet player is the recording of her very own album, in collaboration with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra with the support of the Malta Arts Council.

Jessica has included one of Maestro Vella`s earlier masterpieces – the Clarinet Quintet (Opus 16) – in her album. This work for clarinet, two violins, viola and cello was composed in 1973 and has a duration of 17 minutes circa. First performed at the University of Malta`s Auditorium in 1978, it is very heartening to note the enthusiasm with which upcoming musicians are contributing to keep Maestro Joseph Vella`s music alive.

Congratulations once again!
